We just want to make a quick shout out to our friends at Val’s Wild Tomato in Winooski, Vermont.  They just started selling our energy bars there this week and things are going really well.  They have great grab-and-go items during the working hours and then kick up up a notch during the evening hours with some awesome-tasting wings.

Stop by and say hi to the whole crew and pick up a few Eddie’s Energy Bars. They are located in the old New England Wings location, right across from the new location for the Community College of Vermont.

I Seem to Be Blogging Less These Days

I don’t know what it is. Maybe it’s the whole Senior year thing–busier than ever before and involved in two leadership positions on campus.  Combine this with planning how to grow Eddie’s, and you’ve got yourself one heck of a busy schedule.  I wanted to take a couple of paragraphs to let you know about what’s going on with Eddie’s:

Virginia/North Carolina Distribution: We’re working with Gordon Martel to get Eddie’s Energy Bars down in the VA/NC area.  We’re looking at Roanoke, Blacksburg, Lynchburg, and Raleigh areas.  Any recommendations for store locations in those areas are welcome!

Boston Distribution: We’re still working on this too and hope to be in stores soon.

Custom Labeled Energy Bars: We have been doing a lot of custom-labeled energy bar orders lately–it’s fun to do these because of the creativity of the companies and individuals that are requesting bars.  We’re doing trade show give-aways, concert eats, and other things!

Pumpkin Bar: It’s coming back in about two weeks for the period of October and November.  Get ready.

That’s it for now.  Lots of planning and big things in the works that I am unable to discuss right now!

World-Record Baking Day!

Hello!

Last weekend, we set records at Eddie’s Energy Bars!  We baked a total of 23 batches–that’s 664 bars, shattering the previous record of 504 bars baked in a day.  While the 23 batches took 12 hours, it was one heck of a feat, given that our bars are manufactured on a kitchen-aid mixer and a home oven, so it got quite hot in the kitchen!

This increased demand has led to the purchase of a new convection home oven that will not only bake faster, but it will allow for 3 pans to be baked at the same time.  The Speed Demon Baker, Jeanne, will now be able to bake all of the bars she whips up for us–it’s a momentous occasion.  The oven should be here in about two weeks–it’s shiny and stainless steel, so we are pretty pumped about it.

Eddie’s T-Shirt are Here!

It’s been a very long wait, but the Eddie’s T-shirts are finally here!!!! I waited a long time yesterday–the UPS truck didn’t arrive until 6:30 pm! I should have given him an energy bar–next time!

Anyway, to the important stuff–T-SHIRTS.  Head on over here to purchase your Eddie’s duds with a great mountain logo on the front and the signature Eddie’s sprig of grass on the back.

The shirts are Hanes, mens and ladies fit. They run a little snug–men’s are pre-shrunk cotton and the women’s are not–no idea what that is!

Whew–Where did July go?

Tomorrow is August 1st and I have no idea where July went! I’m sure I’m not alone, but summer pretty much just started up here in the Green Mountains–for the first time in what seems like forever, we had two sunny days in a row, with temps in the 80’s!  These high temperatures have kept us hot. Know what else is keeping us hot? Our oven!  We have been baking like mad these past few weeks!

Eddie and Jeanne just made it back from the Outer Banks of North Carolina on a wonderful vacation, while I was holding down the bakery fort baking energy bars after our debut in the Burlington Free Press last week. Here is a recap of what’s going on:

Burlington Free Press article: We had a wonderful write-up in Business Monday last week and we have received an enormous amount of comments saying that it was a great editorial piece.  We could not thank John Briggs enough for writing a thoughtful piece and conveying everything I wanted to convey.  Also, I want to thank Ryan Mercer, my favorite Free Press photographer for some great shots of me and my mom (as well as the bars of course).

NECN Television Airing: We also had a crazy media day a few weeks ago, when NECN came by to film, and they had a great (lengthy!) piece on us.  Anya and Kika both did a great job with filming and interviewing–we’ve probably watched the clip 50 times we like it so much, so take a look at it and let us know what you think.

That’s it for media, but it has been keeping us really busy.  Our internet sales have sky-rocketed and our retail sales are holding strong, so look forward to a great next couple of months as we start to expand into other areas of Vermont as well as the Boston.
