Textbooks make great lifting weights
Ok, I am posting late for a reason. Here is a little bit of background before I go into this post. I was working hard (or hardly working) on my Global Politics paper the entire day, and I pushed the gym off till later tonight. Now, the gym is supposed to be open until 11:00 pm on Saturday, but apparently, an exception was made, in that the gym would close somewhere prior to 8:00 pm. No one told me this! So, being the entrepreneur that I am, I knew I had to think of a new idea. I held my bag tight to my shoulders, and ran all the way back to my dorm, from the gym. It was all I could think of…It was half freezing outside, and I needed to move my legs. Despite having to breathe a little bit harder, I managed to make it back safe and sound, but I’m not quite done with my super-mini-workout.
I still needed to lift. What better to lift with than my textbooks? I took my math book, my accounting book, and the phone book, a combined probably 20 pounds, and started doing bicep curls. Granted, it was below what I could really do in the gym, but it was better than doing nothing at all. In between textbook reps (no, not the annoying people that try and sell their company textbook) I would do some push-ups. It worked great!
I was thinking about lifting the fridge (it has some homemade energy bars in it), but then I thought that probably wasn’t such a good idea.
Have you ever used things around the house to workout with? Let me know by leaving a comment below!
OK, time to go work on that paper some more.
Have a great weekend!

Energy Bars–they were much needed this week!
Whew! What a week. I have been so busy with school I haven’t blogged in 3 days (sorry about that). It seems that all of my professors have dumped homework on me at the same time…reminds me of high school but just ten times the work. What do I do to get through all this work? I eat energy bars for a great snack, and the extra boost gets me through the last couple pages of Liars Poker, the book I am reading for my english class. By the way–I think I am going to set a personal record and finish a 250 page book in 5 days! Honestly, it’s kind of a dry book so far–about corporate finance, mortgages, and bonds at Salmon Bros. Not really my cup of tea.
Speaking of personal records, the location of the beCAUSE show in Essex Junction, VT has changed. It will now be located at Grace United Methodist Church on Maple St in the Junction. It is the church directly to the right of the ADL School, just up from Maple St Park. It’s on Saturday, April 14th from 9-4. I am donating 50% of profits to the Sam Cohn Foundation, so be sure to stop by and support Sam, and many other great charities and causes.
Lastly, Eddie’s Energy Bars has started the Eddie’s Energy Bars Corporate Energy Program. It is a great way to thank employees, co-workers, or customers for showing a great amount of effort and determination in your company. Buy them some energy bars today!
Back to reading now!
Everyone enjoy the weekend!

Shoveling snow is an all natural workout
Never ended up blogging last night because I just got too busy. Couple of interesting events happened yesterday:
-I drove home from school, and I was literally home for less than thirty minutes to then find out that my friend’s 80s BMW was stuck on my hill. We managed to get it back down to the bottom, and try again–with no avail. Back down the hill again, but this time we get stuck in the icy/snowy bank. Birdseed doesn’t work, so out comes the shovel! We start shoveling the car out, barely getting anywhere. I probably shoveled for 45 minutes–it’s a great cardiovascular workout I have found (and I didn’t even go to the gym). Then the heavy artilery comes in –just a couple of the guys to help get her out. After about another 30 minutes she is out of the bank and off to her destination. Moral of the story: You need speed to get up my hill, and shoveling is a fantastic work out!
On the other hand, I went to the used booksale at CHMS last night, and picked up some great books on marketing, a cookbook on grilling, as well as one entirely devoted to grilled cheese. Yum!
Off to lunch later with some friends, and shopping with my twin Kelsey for the day.
Enjoy your weekend,
Michael
