So, I’m back at school, ready to tackle what is coming at me during the upcoming spring semester. Homework is already starting to pile up and club meetings are springing up as well. One thing I need to start doing (I guess you could say it’s my New Years resolution) is going back to the gym. It’s time for me to get in the habit of going to the gym again, 5 days a week, for around an hour.
With that being said, there are no excuses why you should not being getting up and moving around. I used to throw around excuse after excuse, similar to the title of this post. I would not have my water bottle (I went out and bought one this week), I need my sleep and don’t want to wake up to the gym, people will make fun of me at the gym, etc.
The benefits far outweigh the costs of not exercising. There is a whole slew of potential diseases that you could end up with: cancer, diabetes, heart disease, high cholesterol, and the like. All of these are inter-related, meaning one potentially could cause the other.
Preventing this is as simple as walking for thirty minutes a day. It’s also recommended that you do some strength training of both your upper and lower body, at least twice a week. See, it’s not too hard. The hardest part is getting in the habit of going, not because you have to, but because you WANT to. It’s all in your mind. Find a reason to want to go the gym, and be on your way to a healthier, happier you.
