Hi Everyone,

Just got home from visiting my high school, and I come with good news. Eddie’s Energy Bars are going to be sold at the Mount Mansfield Union High School A La Carte line starting next week! So, all you crazy little (well, big) high schoolers need to gobble them up.

Also, just yesterday, we started selling at the Sports and Fitness Edge in Essex. Currently, that is the only location where they are sold. I just got the e-mail saying they are out of the dozen bars I gave them yesterday! So exciting!

Before I bounce off my computer chair, I bid you an incredible holiday weekend.

Got a great note today from a great customer, Heather, over in Beaverton, Oregon.  She is a registered dietitian, and sent us these great words about Eddie’s Energy Bars:

I am so impressed with Eddie’s Energy bars! With great flavors, fresh
taste, and a nice balance of protein and fiber, they are the perfect
pick-me-up. And I love the fact that I can pronounce EVERY ingredient
in them! All-natural Eddie’s Energy Bars are a great way to stave off
hunger and fuel your energy level for an active lifestyle.

Thanks, Heather!

What’s Your Goal?

So, here we are starting a new season, back to school (or back to another week of 9-5 for some people).  With back to school time comes a lot of pressures like who has the coolest shoes or whose kid’s parents bought them the neatest backpack.

However, with all of your child’s newness, you should be able to give yourself some newness too!  Were you thinking of joining a gym this fall season, or getting up in the morning to enjoy the brisk air of September on a walk down your street?  It’s time that you do that.  Set a new goal for this season, or maybe for the rest of this year.  You don’t need to make new years resolutions because it’s new years! Make the change because you want to, not because other people are pressuring you too.

When second semester rolled around, I wanted to get in better shape, and there were a number of people who helped me to that point, including friends, family, and the health and wellness counselor at college.  Tell people about your goal, and they will encourage you to reach it.  Who knows, maybe you will even inspire them to add some newness to their life too!

What’s your goal?  It could be anything from wanting to eat lots of fruits and veggies every day, making sure you add play time with your kids, so you have play too, or it could even be giving yourself the ten minutes before you go to bed to read the book that is collecting dust on your shelf. Relaxation, fitness, and nutrition are three perfect goal areas.

Whatever the goal is, this time of year is perfect to start.

Happy goal setting.

PS: My goal is to make the most of my sophomore year when I move in next week, and keep the same fitness/nutrition level that I had when I left in May.

I know it has been long awaited, but you can now purchase Eddie’s Energy Bars at UVM in the Davis Center. Run down the stairs to the first floor and head on into the Cat Pause convenience store. The bars are on the top shelf right as you walk in with a crazy yellow and green sign telling you to join the madness!

We’ll see how it goes at UVM, the college village of Vermont.

Let My People Go Surfing

The book “Let My People Go Surfing” by Yvon Chouinard, the owner and founder of Patagonia, is hands down the best business book I have read in a while.  Most business books are run of the mill, and spit out the same information, just by different authors.  This book is different, and really got me thinking about where I want my company to go, and what I want it to be all about.

In a couple of sections Chouinard comes back to the point of why he is in business, and the image his company is looking to portray. He’s in business to raise awareness of environmental devastation around the world, and wants Patagonia to be seen as a high-quality climbing equipment and apparel maker.

I know why I am in business, but am I in business for the right reason?  I personally started this business to gain experience in two areas: the business world and the specialty food industry.  And, of course, to try and make a buck.  I think I have succeeded at all three of these, but there is a however.

The reason I think I should be in business is to not only sell my product, but to make a difference in the lives of everyone around me.  I am starting to think that the real reason I am in business is to change the way people think about nutrition, fitness, and their overall health.

How should I do this?  I wanted to start the Eddie’s Energy: Get Outdoors program. Maybe I should really do it and help people, kids and adults alike, to get outside exercising, and eating right.

More on how I want my brand to be seen later.

Have a great day!
