Eddie’s Energy Bars Now in New Jersey!

July 31, 2007

We’ve gone out of state starting sometime in the next couple of days.  After talks with the owner of the Boro Bean in Hopewell , New Jersey, they have decided to carry Eddie’s Energy Bars for their very lucky patrons.

This is fantastic for EEB, as we are trying to slowly take over the nation with our homemade energy bars, one state, and one person at a time.

So, if you’re in New Jersey, stop by the Boro Bean in Hopewell, NJ!  It’s on East Broad St.  If you’re not in New Jersey but would love our energy bars, you can purchase our Vermont goodness here.

Have a great day!

Eddie’s Energy Bars Power Boy Scouts on Long Trail

July 29, 2007

Happy, over at Hikeu Adventure Guides brought some of our energy bars down to her sister who is hiking the Long Trail with a handful of boy scouts this week. They are taking a 75 mile trek up to Camel’s Hump–an incredible feat!

It is pretty sweet to know that our energy bars are being consumed for the exact reason we had intended: hikers, cyclists, or even intense walkers. I wish the Boy Scouts the best of luck on their trek!

Happy sent me a picture of some of the scouts holding their Eddie’s Bars at the start of their trek. They certainly look happy to have an Eddie’s Energy Bar in their hand! If you are interested in powering yourself to hike the long-trail one day Hikeu Adventure Guides is doing an end-to-end long trail backpacking trip sometime in September. Look at it as a great way to get outdoors, meet some great people, and eat Eddie’s Energy Bars!

Drink That Water!

July 28, 2007

While a lot of people think this is fantastic weather, I for one am not a fan in any sorts of hot, sticky, muggy weather. To combat this horrid weather, I drink water like a fish.

I must go through at least four nalgenes worth of water a day. But, drinking water certainly has its benefits, considering your body is 70% water. Correct me if I’m wrong. Anyway, staying hydrated keeps you going through your daily workouts and obviously internally cools you down, along with maintaining necessary bodily functions.

But water is water isn’t it? I honestly love water. It just tastes good. It is my favorite thing to drink when I am thirsty, and you may think I’m crazy for thinking water tastes good, but different waters have different tastes. I for one am a fan of my well water, but a close second would have to be the ethos water at Starbucks. Whatever water whets your appetite, keep on drinking it. If you are a flavored water drinker, watch out for the added calories!

Keep on drinking (water)!

EEB Owner Nominated for Global Award

July 25, 2007

I’m jumping like a Mexican jumping bean right now! A couple of days ago I was nominated for the Global Student’s Entrepreneurship Awards by one of its organizers. This is pretty exciting for me to get recognized as a global entrepreneur. A global homemade energy bar maker–that has a nice ring to it, doesn’t it?

However, the regional competition has already finished, but I was told there was a possibility that I could be a wild-card entry into the competition. After looking further into the competition application, I decided not to apply because what they wanted from me was something I was not willing to give up.

Alas, this is still really exciting, and I’ll be sure to throw it right on my resume for future job/internship applications. Unless, EEB explodes like wildfire, which might happen in September and October. Woohoo!

Exciting times with excited people–couldn’t ask for more.

Whoa! Our Mustard Sold Out too!

July 21, 2007

Aside from today being absolutely beautiful, the farmer’s market was great once again. The number of vendors is growing every week, and I think we’re on tap for a fantastic rest of the summer. There were a couple of new products at the market I would like to highlight, including our brand-new mustard!

So, as clearly stated above, we branched out into the mustard market, with a homemade recipe of ours. The original recipe came from one of my dad’s co-workers, but then we twisted it to our liking. This mustard was initially just a test to see if people liked it. Well, they most certainly did. All of the jars that we brought sold out within an hour and a half. I was shocked, but it gave me a great segway into marketing the mustard as the “sell-out mustard”. That got a lot of people trying it, and the word of mouth spread like wildfire. We received multiple orders for energy bars and for jars of mustard.

A couple spaces away from us, there were burgers and pizza being made by the Boyden Farm. I enjoyed a burger for lunch, and then got the idea of giving them a sample jar of our mustard for other customers to put on their burgers. Forrest, the guy with the burgers gladly accepted, and it will now be a weekly addition to their line-up–a great way to get free publicity for our mustard.

Last but certainly not least were the maple creemees from Comeau’s Maple Syrup. Not only was it a great idea, but it was the best maple creemee I have ever had in my life…only $2! Nice and creamy with a pretty strong maple flavor–not wussy at all!

So, I highly suggest to head over to the market next week and give these vendors a try, buy some energy bars, and some mustard, and I guarantee your life will be so much better.
