I need a file cabinet for my brain

June 19, 2007

I have found that I have so many ideas going through my head right now that I can’t even focus.  Just a lot of randomness here, but this is a list of ideas that I have.  Have something to say about one of my ideas?  Leave a comment below. (Mind you, this is not in any particular order)

  1. Pomegranate energy bar
  2. More retail accounts, and which ones I will benefit from
  3. Custom-labeled energy bars–is there a market out there?
  4. Why people won’t participate in my corporate energy program
  5. Making an ice cream topping out of my bars…
  6. Does my website even make any sense?
  7. Is packaging really what it’s all about?
  8. Why money won’t grow on trees ( Right now, I am scientifically studying why hundred-dollar bills don’t bud off trees–not really)
  9. The incredible future I am hoping to have with this company.  I would like to think that I am on to something here–Do you think I am?
  10. Lastly, why giraffes have long necks.  I have always wondered.

Ok, I’m done with my fancy top 10 list.  Any words of wisdom are welcome.  Leave them below if you can solve any of these mysteries.

Barbara Ehrenreich: A Great Author

June 19, 2007

A little bit different than my normal posts, but I thought I would recommend the book that I am reading right now.

Barbara Ehrenreich is one of my favorite authors.  Her most notable book is Nickel and Dimed, a book in which Barabara herself quits her job and lives in multiple states on a minimum wage as a waitress, cleaning lady, and a couple other professions.  When I first read this book, for fun I might add, I could not put it down.  I brought it everywhere with me.

It really brings home the point that it is near impossible to live on a minimum wage.  It really gives me the motivation to create my own job, and try very hard to succeed at it.  I highly recommend it as a summer reading book.

I recently picked up another book by Mrs. Barbara Ehrenreich, Bait and Switch, about the American middle class not being able to find jobs.  I have barely made it through the introduction, but I will keep you updated on how I think the book is.

Custom-Labeled Energy Bars

June 18, 2007

Good Afternoon,

I hope you all enjoyed the beautiful weekend outside, and spent quality time with your father, grandfather, or another man in your life for Father’s Day.  I spent the afternoon yesterday making energy bars.  I made some peanut-butter chocolate chip (a customer favorite), and a custom order.

This custom order was for Lauren Wooden, the Principal at Richmond Elementary School, right in my town.  I had recently learned from my mom, who is a secretary there that last year she gave out candy bars to the teachers as a thank you.  Candy Bars!?!  I knew I had to do something about this.  These teachers needed a healthier alternative to keep them going right up through report cards.  I proposed to Lauren, a custom-labeled energy bar.

This energy bar ended up being custom in more ways than one.  It was a custom flavor, a custom size, and a custom label. The flavor was chocolate chocolate chip (which will be on the market soon–don’t worry), the size was basically a snack size, half the size of a normal Eddie’s bar, and the label was custom designed by myself.  You can check out a picture of the custom bar below.

Are you interested in getting some custom-labeled energy bars for your next event? Contact us for a quote, and we will get back to you within a few business days. There are endless possibilities: weddings, company outings, graduation, etc.
You can supply the label, or we can design it for you.  Whatever you want, we can probably do it.

Have you ever seen custom-labeled energy bars?  I didn’t think so.  We’re a different company.  Contact us to have a stand-out gift at your event.

Happy Father’s Day from EEB!

June 17, 2007

Thanks, Dad and Grandaddy for helping me out all of these years!  Unfortunately my dad is still in Boston as we speak, but he is being a good father and helping my brother move into his apartment. He even talked to a few local businesses about Eddie’s Energy Bars

That is all.  Happy Father’s Day to all the men out there!

EEB Sponsors the GMARA

June 16, 2007

If the title isn’t enough acronyms for you, then I don’t know what is.  Anywho, Eddie’s Energy Bars (EEB) is proud to announce the sponsorship of the Green Mountain Adventure Racing Association (GMARA)

I stumbled upon this great group a few weeks ago, and decided to see if they would pull me on as a sponsor, and they most certainly did!  I sent them some bars to try and like that we became a sponsor.  They really liked our homemade energy bars!  We will be at The Bitter Pill Adventure Race coming up in August, giving out free samples to volunteers and participants.

Adventure Racing is an interesting concept.  According to the GMARA website, adventure racing is a multi-day, non-stop, multi-sport, mixed gender event. It has been called ‘an expedition with a stopwatch.’ The goal is to be the first group to cross the finish line as a team. Courses typically take place in remote wilderness where teams may not see race officials or other teams for hours at a time. Navigation decisions are left to the team; they simply have a map and directions telling them where the next checkpoint is.

This sounds pretty crazy to me, but exciting at the same time, and the people that are signed up for the race are perfect for an Eddie’s Energy Bar.  With high protein and fiber, our bars are sure to keep them full for a good part of the race–they are very filling.

Before I leave to start my weekend activities, I just want to point out that this is a local organization, and local comes first, here at Eddie’s Energy Bars.  Supporting local groups and athletes is what we’re all about.

To find out more about the the GMARA, visit their website here.

Have a great weekend!
